Donate Your Qurbani

Unite 4 Humanity is reaching out to the Muslims in UK and Europe for Qurbani Donations. Previously we have performed Qurbani in Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, Morocco, Indonesia and various other Muslim communities across the globe.

Qurbani Packages

Unite 4 Humanity tries to keep the cost of Qurbani as low as possible. However sometimes logistically the cost of transporting the animals from one place to another or the cost of the livestock itself is very high due to a shortage in supply.

This year Unite 4 Humanity will be performing Qurbani in Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, Africa, and Yemen.

Unite 4 Humanity Qurbani Donations Appeal

Eid al-Adha is a joyous occasion for Muslims all over the world. There is always an extra buzz amongst the children in Muslim countries as they get to see and look after lambs, sheep, cows and in some cases camels.

This is for the households who can afford to sacrifice Qurbani. However, there are many Muslim households who cannot afford to fulfil this Sunnah. To make them feel part of this great Sunnah, Unite 4 Humanity has launched its Qurbani Donations Appeal.

Eid al-Adha in the UK

Like other Muslims, UK Muslims also love the occasion of the Eid al-Adha. Alhamdulillah many families in the UK fulfil the duty of Qurbani and perform more than one Qurbani in the year.

British Muslims perform Qurbani in the UK to teach their children and to revive the Sunnah of Ibrahim alayhis’salam. However, an average UK Muslim household tend to cook meat at 3-4 times a week. Eid al-Adha is a good chance for you to share the Qurbani meat with the people who don’t get to eat meat on a regular basis.

What is Qurbani (Udhiya)?

Following the Sunnah of Ibrahim alayhis’salam, Muslims perform Udhiya’ in Arabic or Qurbani in Urdu on the 10th, 11th, 12th or 13th of Dhul Hijjah. It is an act of worship to please Allah subhana wa ta’ala.

In other words sacrificing an animal for the sake of Allah and to gain his pleasure is called Qurbani or Udhiya.

Virtues of Qurbani (Udhiya)

Qurbani is a combined sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim alayhis’salam, Prophet Ismail alayhis’salam and our beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa’Salam.

Qurbani is a great act of worship. Allah says: “So, turn in prayer towards your Lord and sacrifice (Qurbani).” (Quran 108:2)

Qurbani reminds us about the great sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail alayhimus’salam. Ibrahim alayhis’salam willingly in honour of his Lord complied to sacrifice his son for the sake of Allah by following His command.

Allah saved Ismail alayhis’salam but this incident shows the level of trust Ibrahim and Ismail alayhimus’salam had in their Lord.

Allah mentioned this in Surah As-Saffaat:

“And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice.”

There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Udhiya than the slaughtering of animals for the sake Allah.

Why does Allah need us to perform Qurbani?

Islam is the greatest religion and everything it contains is goodness. Sometimes we might feel that an Islamic command doesn’t make sense but when you contemplate we realise that Allah has put many benefits in it.

According to some modernists, Qurbani is a waste of money and the lives of animals. The biggest argument we sometimes get is why can’t we just give the money to the poor.

The answer to this doubt is …

We human beings are full of sins and mistakes. Allah has created many acts of worship and upon performing these acts, Allah forgives His slave’s sins.

Qurbani is one of them.

When we sacrifice an animal, Allah doesn’t receive the meat, skin or blood of the animal rather. He looks at our intention and the Taqwa.

The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgment with its horns, hair, and hooves and will be weighed alongside with our intention and we will rewarded for that.

If the intention is right, Allah will accept the Qurbani before the blood reaches the ground. The reward for performing Qurbani is immense, we should always try our best to keep our heart and intentions clear.

Six Conditions for the Qurbani Animal

  1. Qurbani animal should be one of the animals which is classed as cattle (an’aam). These are: camels, cattle, sheep and goats. Allah says: “And for every nation We have appointed religious ceremonies. They may mention the Name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He has given them for food.” [al-Hajj 22:34]
  2. The sacrificial animal should have reached the age stipulated in sharee’ah. Six months for a sheep. And the age at which the animal is considered as an adult for other animals. The Prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu Ilayhee Wasalam) said: “Do not sacrifice anything but an adult animal, unless it is difficult for you, in which case you may slaughter a six-month old lamb.”
  3. Qurbani animal should be free of any faults that would render it unsuitable for sacrifice. Prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu Ilayhee Wasalam) was asked about what should be avoided in the Qurbani animal? He gestured with his hand and said: “Four.” A lame animal, a one-eyed animal, a sick animal, and an emaciated animal.”
  4. The animal should belong to the person who is offering the sacrifice, or he should have permission for that either on the grounds of sharee’ah or from the owner. The sacrifice is not valid if the animal slaughtered has been taken by force, stolen, or taken on the basis of a false claim.
  5. No one else should have any rights to the sacrificial animal; the sacrifice of an animal that is held in pledge is not valid.
  6. It should be slaughtered at the time specified in sharee’ah, which is from after the Eid prayer on the Day of Sacrifice until sunset on the last of the days of al-Tashreeq. (13th Dhul Hijjah)

Qurbani Donations are Urgently Required

After a very busy Ramadan in which our team

  • Distributed Food Packs in Morocco, Pakistan, Africa & Bangladesh
  • Started Building Orphanages & Masjids
  • Raised money to Sponsor Orphans
  • Built Water Wells
  • Helped Poor & Needy in various Muslim communities

Now they are in sha Allah ready to fulfil the duty of performing Qurbanis on your behalf.

Give your Qurbani Donations to Unite 4 Humanity and our team will in sha Allah perform the sacrifice on your behalf in the country of your choice.

How do we perform the Qurbani?

As you can tell from our VLOGS about the Ramadan Food Packs we never go with the first price given by the suppliers. We don’t hesitate to barter to ensure we get the best deal.

  • We source all the animals locally to help the local shepherds and businesses.
  • Hire a place to keep these animals and make sure they are fed and looked properly.
  • On the day we perform the Qurbanis by bringing one animal at a time.
  • We don’t perform sacrifice in front of other animals.
  • We hire local butchers and volunteers to help us fulfil this great duty.

How do we distribute the Qurbani Meat?

Unite 4 Humanity perform Qurbani in the areas with a poor population. Once all the Qurbanis are performed we distribute the meat amongst the poor and needy Muslim families as per their need.

Eid al-Adha is great occasion for these families as some of these families haven’t tasted the meat for months.

You can share your Qurbani with the poor and needy Muslims by donating towards U4H’s Qurbani Appeal.

Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: With regard to the meat from the sacrificial animals, one third should be for your family, one third for yourself, and one third for the poor.

The matter of Qurbani distribution is broad in scope. What matters is that the Qurbani meat should be divided in three equal parts. One part for the family, one part for relatives and friends, and one part for the impoverished. The meat from sacrificial animals can be distributed to the poor, rich, Muslim or non-Muslim.

Due of the relative lack of poverty in Western countries many Muslims prefer to have their Qurbani performed and distributed in poorer countries. There the meat is distributed amongst the neediest or those suffering hardship and poverty.

Why Can’t I just Donate Money?

Offering the Qurbani (Udhiya) is certianly better than giving its price in charity due to various reasons. However, in a nutshall whilst performing Qurbani you’re performing two acts at the same time.

  1. You are donating money towards the purchase of animal.
  2. You sacrificing animals will fulfil the sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim, Ismail and Muhammad Alayhimis’salam.

Giving money for the charitable causes is a great way of gaining Allah’s pleasure. However, sometimes Allah commands us to do an act of Ibadah which is not only the making us spend our money rather also test physically, mentally or emotionally.

Muslims should always be satisfied at the decree and commands of Allah.

Donate your Qurbani with Unite 4 Humanity and bring a smile to many Muslim families.
